Schools in Croatia

Education in Croatia
Primary school (osnovna skola) is free and compulsory up to the age of eight. Secondary school (srednja skola) students can either choose a three year technical course or move on to the gymnazija for further studies and preparation for university. Students going on to university after secondary education must pass a national examination in order to be admitted. They may also take a further exam for specialised studies such as law or medicine. Similar to the UK, studies at university is free but students are responsible for their own living expenses. There are four universities in Croatia;
Zagreb, Osijek, Rijeka and Split.
